ANZAC DAY Service - Thursday, 24th April (Week one of Term Two)
Camelot Rise PS will have a special ANZAC DAY ceremony on Friday, 24th April at 2:45pm. This special ceremony will replace our school assembly. These are always very touching
events and provide a great way to teach our children about the importance and significance of ANZAC Day. Thanks to Ms Hong for coordinating and leading this whole school event.
Our first whole school assembly for Term Two will be Friday, 1st May.
Planning week for Term Two
All of our Professional Learning Teams are allocated one day to provide them with additional time to enable them to plan and prepare for the following term.
On these days the students have all their specialist classes on one day.
The timetable for this will be:
Foundation – Friday, 20th March
Year 1 & 2 – Wednesday, 25th March
Year 3 & 4 Monday, 23rd March
Year 5 & 6 Thursday, 26th March

Emergency Evacuation Drill
On Tuesday, 31st March the school will be undertaking an emergency evacuation drill. Throughout the year we undertake regular evacuation and lockdown drills on different days of the week and at different times. This ensures that in the event of an emergency all students and staff know exactly what to do.
School Council Annual Report-Annual General Meeting
On Thursday, 26th March at 6.30pm Camelot Rise Primary School Council will be presenting the 2025 Annual Report to the community discussing Student Achievement, Student Engagement and Student Wellbeing. Following the report, we will hold our first meeting of the 2026 School Council. At this meeting we will welcome newly elected, re-elected and continuing members to the School Council.
All office bearing positions will be spilled and nominations invited for office bearing positions for the new committee. You are all welcome to attend the Annual Report and also sit in on the School Council meeting as a visitor. Please be advised that this report will also be made available on the school website and will be accessible at a later date on the VRQA State register.
Harmony Day - Dance Incursion
"Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all people regardless of cultural or linguistic background.” We are pleased to have Footsteps working with our
school as part of our Harmony Day celebrations. This incursion will run over 4 weeks, on Thursdays. Each year level will learn a dance to celebrate the different cultures in our school.
Each year group will learn a dance inspired by a different culture. These dances are fusions or hybrids of traditional cultural dance and modern dance. This will help the students explore the idea of bringing cultures together, learning how a multicultural society benefits Australia and how we can celebrate that with dance.
Holi
Many of our Hindu community celebrated Holi on Wednesday 4th March. To all of our Hindu community members, we wish you a Happy Holi!
Ramadan
Members of our Muslim community are currently observing Ramadan, which will
conclude on Thursday, 19th March. We would like to wish all of our Muslim community a Happy Ramadan - Eid Mubarak!
Strike Action - March 24th
As parents and carers may be aware, staff at our school who are Australian Education Union (AEU) members have been negotiating, alongside teachers, education support staff, assistant principals, and principals from public schools around Victoria, with the state government and Department of Education for improvements to pay and employment conditions. At this moment in time, no agreement has been reached and there is a planned industrial action on Tuesday, 24th March.
Currently, Victorian public schools are the lowest funded in Australia and there are significant staffing shortages across Victoria. Victorian public school teachers are also the lowest paid teachers in Australia, with many education support employees and school leaders paid less than their colleagues in other state and territories who do the same role.
AEU members are seeking pay increases and reductions to excessive workloads, with the aim of ensuring the retention of existing employees and the attraction of the next generation to enable the ongoing provision of a high-quality education to students. Because there has not been any offer, AEU members are undertaking a vote to endorse industrial action, with the union calling a statewide 24-hour stopwork for Tuesday 24 March. The AEU has written to our school council outlining some of the issues that school staff need resolved, including school funding and staffing shortages, as well as pay and conditions. The union acknowledges that a decision to stop work is not one to be taken lightly and regrets the impact it has on students and their families, with the state government able to avoid such action if a fair and decent offer is made to employees. If the industrial action goes ahead, we will provide our school community with all the information needed to manage the situation.
It goes without saying that as a school we support all our staff and expect them to be paid reasonably and have fair conditions of work.
More information about this will be sent out when we receive further guidance from the Department.
