Oh, the Places You'll Go!
What a fantastically fun and wacky week we’ve had in Year 1! Last week, our classrooms were transformed into a colourful world of imagination as we celebrated the wonderful Dr. Seuss Day.
It was incredible to see our Year 1 students (and teachers!) fully embrace the spirit of the day by dressing up as their favourite books and characters. From Things 1 and 2 to an array of mischievous Cats in the Hat, the effort and creativity on display was absolutely brilliant.
We kicked off the celebrations by rotating through the Year 1 classrooms to participate in a variety of engaging, Dr. Seuss-themed activities. These hands-on rotations brought some of our favourite stories to life:
The Cat in the Hat: Students put on their designer hats to create and decorate a brand-new, unique hat for the famous cat.
Fox in Socks: We got crafty and had a great time creating our very own wacky Fox in Socks artworks.
Oh, the Places You'll Go!: Students made wonderful hot air balloon crafts and spent time dreaming big. They thoughtfully answered prompts about where in the world they would love to travel and what they want to be when they grow up!
I Wish That I Had Duck Feet: Imaginations ran wild as students thought about what extraordinary animal part they would choose to have and why it would be so amazing.
Dr. Seuss Origami: Students practiced their fine motor and folding skills to create clever Cat in the Hat origami bookmarks.
After all the crafting and creating, we came together for a special Year 1 parade, giving everyone the chance to proudly showcase their amazing outfits. The laughter continued as the students participated in a very entertaining, year-level game of "Dr. Seuss Says," which certainly kept everyone on their toes!
It was a phenomenal day filled with reading, creativity, and a whole lot of fun. A huge thank you to all our parents and carers for your wonderful effort in putting together such fantastic costumes. You helped make this a memorable day of learning and laughter for our Year 1 students!
