Altona North Campus News

Swimming Carnival
On Friday 20th February, our Year 7 students came together at the Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre for an exciting day of swimming, connection and friendly competition. The carnival provided a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy time with friends while also meeting their Year 7 peers from our Williamstown Campus.
The races were competitive, school spirit was on display, and the much-anticipated water slide certainly lived up to expectations. The only slight hiccup was one bus taking the scenic route back to the Altona North Campus via the West Gate Bridge — adding a little extra adventure to an already memorable day.
Congratulations to all students who participated in particular students who achieved outstanding results. Well Done!
Michael Brinkworth (Breaststroke) Andrew Martin (Backstroke), Alex Loong (Freestyle)
Thank you to our parents and carers who travelled to Oak Park to support their children at the carnival. Your presence, encouragement and enthusiasm contributed greatly to the positive atmosphere of the day and meant a great deal to our students.
SRC Leadership Day
We are committed to developing leadership skills in all our students and intentionally embed these opportunities within our programs whenever possible. On Monday 16th February, our SRC leaders participated in a leadership workshop at the Newport Hub, exploring the attributes of effective leadership, what it looks like in action, and how to create meaningful change through the SRC — change that benefits individuals, the school and the broader community.
Working within a framework of collegial support and collaborative planning, our SRC members partnered with students from our Williamstown Campus, strengthening connections while building their capacity to lead with purpose and impact. Thank you to Ms Pearson for leading this program.
LifeSaving Education
Last week our primary students (Grades 1-6) undertook a Lifesaving Education Program at Altona Beach.
Facilitated by Lifesaving Victoria, students developed their water safety knowledge, learnt swimming skills and transferred these competencies to the open-water beach environment all from qualified instructors.
Although not all groups were able to get into the water due to weather and water quality students all had a wonderful time on the sand.
These important activities will be followed up in the schools HAPE lessons.
We have not forgotten about our wonderful preps, who will attend Altona Beach in Term 4.
Primary Assembly
We held our first Primary Assembly on 19 February with our Year 6 Students, Rosie and Mikayla as MCs. They spoke confidently to share updates, a welcome to our assembly, awarded positive pass acknowledgements and Principal Awards.
