Williamstown Campus  News

Dear Williamstown Families,

As we pass the midpoint of the term, I would like to update you on what has been happening across the campus and reflect on a very positive start to the year.

Our new cohort of Year 7 students have settled in well. They participated in a comprehensive induction program organised by Year 7 Coordinator, Angela North, which included a team-building day at Hanging Rock facilitated by Hobsons Bay Youth Services. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to build connections and confidence as they began their secondary school journey.

On Friday 20 February, we held our Swimming Carnival. All Year 7 students attended, along with competitors from Years 8 and 9. It was an excellent day of participation and school spirit, with several students progressing through to regional competition.

Interschool sport and excursions have also commenced, including our STEM classes attending Wyndham Tech. These opportunities provide valuable real-world learning experiences and help students explore future pathways.

Overall, it has been a strong start to the year, with many engaging opportunities still to come.

We encourage all students to become involved in clubs to strengthen social connections and engagement with school life.

Attendance

Regular attendance is critical for both academic progress and wellbeing. Students who attend school consistently are more likely to achieve positive learning outcomes and maintain strong peer connections. While illness and exceptional circumstances do occur, maintaining attendance above 90% is an important goal. If your child is experiencing challenges impacting attendance, please contact the school so we can provide support.

Positive Behaviour

Students have earned 2,155 positive points so far this term, reflecting the strong positive behaviour and engagement across the campus. Families can view their child’s positive points and Compass Chronicle via Compass.

Uniform

Uniform compliance has been strong. As the weather begins to cool, please check your child’s uniform to ensure they have appropriate and well-fitting winter items.

Traffic Management

In 2025, a boom gate was installed at the car park entrance to reduce cross-traffic between pedestrians and vehicles. This coincided with the opening of the designated drop-off and pick-up zone near the front office.

Recently, we have had several instances of parents parking in the driveway. This creates a safety risk for students and prevents staff from safely accessing the car park. Please ensure you use street parking or the designated drop-off and pick-up zone when arriving at or departing from the campus.

Learning and Academic Progress

Please continue to monitor Compass regularly to review learning tasks, submission dates, and teacher feedback. This is an important way to support your child in maintaining strong learning habits as we move further into the assessment period.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We value our partnership with families and look forward to continuing a positive and successful term.

Sincerely,

Michael Sperling
