Sports Announcements

Our CGPS Cross Country Carnival has been run and won for another year. Once again, it was a fantastic event, punctuated with incredible efforts of our students to run either 2 or 3 kilometres around the picturesque Princes Park. We all so proud of how our students competed on the day! A giant thank you to family helpers Kym, Lily, Kevin, Jen, Shan, Jenny and Inam for volunteering their time to help us out, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Our age group winners from the day were…

9/10 girls: Mia

9/10 Boys: Naoki

11 Girls: Sophie

11 boys: Michael

12 Girls: Hannah

12 Boys: Liam

This was also a house event, with runners scoring points for their houses. Congratulations to Sergeant who are the 2026 Cross Country champions!

Sports borrowing

Based off feedback from the student community, our incredible house captains Arsh, Hannah, Alex and Clara have developed a sports equipment borrowing system for lunchtimes where all students are welcomed to borrow a range of items including soccer balls, skipping ropes and footys. All students wanting to borrow can line up at the bottom of the stairwell near the playground, politely ask for what they want to borrow and tell the students in charge their name and grade. They will then make sure it is returned when they hear the announcement. All students so far have shown amazing responsibility for the equipment that has been borrowed!

Tennis

We recently had 4 Carlton Gardens students compete at the District Tennis competition. Elye, Elodie, Yi Jin and Arsh spent Friday afternoon playing several matches against students from local schools. We should all be incredibly proud of how they carried themselves on the day, always showing respect for opponents and themselves by giving it their best go. A big thanks also goes to their parents for helping with transport on the day.
