These blue horses were inspired by three sources:
- 2026 is the Year of the Horse according to the Chinese zodiac.
- Eric Carleās book The Artists Who Painted a Blue Horse, and most importantly:
- The incredible Winner of the Archibald Prize People's Choice 2025 by Loribelle Spirovski: Finger painting of William Barton.

Spirovski was recovering from an injury that made painting difficult and painful. Instead, she used her fingers to create this stunning portrait. We had amazing fun mixing tints, shades and tones with our fingers (or in some cases, hands and arms š) and then painting these blue beauties š.
