Last week BNPS sent 2 representative teams to compete in the SSV Eureka and Sovereign Division Bowls Tournament.
The BNPS Red team was unfortunate to miss a spot at the regional event, having remained undefeated all day. They comfortably beat Alfredton in Game 1; 9-5, They then took care of Phoenix in Game 2 with a score of 8-6. In Game 3 they faced the other undefeated team in their section, Bunninyong. They managed to draw against Bunninyong, however had a lower percentage and ended up finishing 2nd overall. Congratulations to Lily McGrath, Flynn Weston, John Nykoluk, Maisie Anderton and skippers Lily Baldwin and Zavier Naber.
The BNPS Black team was also undefeated, blitzing through their section and finishing on top to qualify for the regional event on the 3rd of September.
Game 1 was the closest of the day, with a narrow 8-6 victory over Alfredton Green. Game 2 was a big win 10-4 over St Alipius Red and Game 3 was a commanding 13-1 win over Bunninyong Black, with all bowlers consistently delivering excellent draw bowls.
Congratulations to Oliver Orr, Rocco Harris, Ally Braybrook, Harry Moore and skippers Tom Baldwin and Charlie Anderton for qualifying for the Regionals!
Overall, I was so impressed with the dedication and determination of our young squad, who all showcased wonderful sportsperson ship, dedication and teamwork to perform at a very high standard. For some of our students this was their first bowls game, though you wouldn't have known it!
A big thankyou to Dave Anderton who offered his time and skills to host training sessions for the kids and coaching on the day, Paula Baldwin for organising and the Ballarat North Bowling Club for allowing us to use the facilities to prepare. Thankyou as well to all of the parents who ferried, attended and supported their children on the day.
Go North!
Mr Curtis.
