A Message from Parents & Friends
Hello everyone,
As we approach the end of another term at AGPS, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to our wonderful school community for your continued generosity and support. We are delighted that our events bring so much joy to members of our community, young and old.
None of this would be possible without those who generously volunteer their free time to support these events and fundraising - what an extremely lucky school we are. We’re often approached by other schools asking us to show them how we do things - which is the biggest compliment, but it is thanks to our community support that we get to lead the way in school fundraising!
We’re excited to see what our school classrooms will look like next year when the furniture we’re raising money for is purchased and installed.
In the meantime, here’s an update for past events and what is coming up.
Picture Products
Everyone by now should have received their ordered products (except Grade 6 who are off having fun in Canberra). If you haven’t received yours, please let Casey know in the office. Thanks to everyone who purchased a plate or another product. We raised $611.00 for our school.
Cookie Dough
Well done to everyone who signed up and bought cookie dough. And an even bigger thank you to Leanne who spent the whole of Tuesday sorting through 541 tubs of cookie dough and getting it distributed in time. Grade 6’s can collect theirs on Monday - they are in the freezer. Winning classes will be announced shortly, but we’re delighted to tell you we raised $2156.
Father’s/ Special Person’s Day - Friday 4th September
How wonderful was last Friday? We hope all the dad’s and special people enjoyed it as much as we did organising it and cooking our way through over 400 sausages and setting up all the activities for you to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who came along.
Special thanks goes out to Liz Oblak, who set up all the activities including the hilarious inflatable race and to Bec Lally for sourcing our wonderful raffle prizes. And let’s not forget all our wonderful Mums who came and volunteered to make our event happen.
Grandparents Day
Perhaps one of our favourite times of the year is when we get to welcome Grandparents and special people to our school to spend time with us. Please make sure you let them know that their special day at our school is on Friday 23rd October.
We will send further details out once we’re back after the school holidays.
Movie Night - change of Date
We have made the decision to move our school movie night from 30th October to Friday 6th November. This is due to the long weekend. We will send further details out in early October.
Volunteering
We know life gets busy - we’re busy people, raising our children, working, taxing to sport, cleaning our houses and trying to make important time for ourselves. Our fundraising and events can only happen when our community comes together. We’re always in need of support for events and all the sorting and planning that goes on behind the scenes.
Come forward, put your hand up via our sign up sheet and there will always be someone to show you the way. Bring your toddlers along (and please don’t stress about their noise or destruction, we’ve all been there). We have a few days coming up including Grandparents Day, our Movie Night, our Election Day BBQ and our Christmas Fun day!
