A Message from David

As we head into the final week of Term 3, it is a good time to look back on what has been another busy term at AGPS.

There have been plenty of highlights across the school. Book Week was a great celebration of reading, with our special performance, dress-up day and the JSC book stall raising money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Our Year 2, 4 & 6 camping program is in full swing and our students have represented AGPS proudly at sporting events, including the Division Athletics Carnival.

There have also been lots of great moments in our classrooms. Our Preps celebrated their 100 Days of School and have had their very first Garden classes, while across the school our teachers have continued to focus on high-quality learning programs in literacy, numeracy and other curriculum areas. It has been pleasing to see the academic growth our students are making as a result of this work.

We still have one week to go, with plenty happening before we finish for the holidays. We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to our whole school community for another fantastic term. We always feel so fortunate to be part of such a positive and supportive environment that works together to support our students - THANK YOU!!

Father's & Special Person's Day 

We recently celebrated Father’s Day at AGPS, welcoming our dads, fathers and other special people into the school to spend some quality time with their children. These days are always a highlight of the school year and are an important part of our school community.

A huge thank you to our fantastic volunteers who organised the afternoon and put in so much work to make it happen. The Father’s Day stall held during the week was also a great success, giving students the opportunity to choose a special gift to take home and give to their dad or special person. There were some fantastic gifts on offer, and the excitement from the students choosing something for their special person was great to see.

Seeing the smiles on the faces of our students, dads and special people made all of the hard work worthwhile. A big thank you to everyone who helped organise the stall and afternoon and made Father’s Day such a success.

Camps, Excursions & Incursions!

Grade 2 - Angahook

Our Year 2 students are getting ready for their first school camp at Angahook Holiday Camp in Anglesea next week! They’ll spend one night away with their friends, enjoying some great activities and having plenty of fun.

For many of our students, this will be their first night away from home. We’re looking forward to seeing them be brave, give everything a go, build their confidence and make some great memories with their friends.

Year 4 - Camp Allambee

Our Year 4 students are currently enjoying the stunning scenery at Camp Allambee. Despite some initial nervousness at being away from home, all students settled into their cabins quickly and soon acclimatised to the camp environment. It has been a joy to see so many students conquering their fears on the giant swing and flying fox, challenging themselves on billy cart hill and the vertical climb, and working together to complete the low-ropes course and build sturdy huts out of logs and sticks. They also enjoyed a night walk spotting wombats and feeding the resident alpaca and sheep. The kids had a ball!

Grade 6 - Canberra Camp

Our Year 6 students are currently enjoying their Canberra Camp, with a busy few days exploring our nation’s capital.

They have been visiting some of Canberra’s key attractions, including Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, Questacon, the Australian Institute of Sport and the Royal Australian Mint. It has been a great opportunity for students to extend their learning outside the classroom, experience new things and make some great memories with their friends.

A big thank you to our Year 6 staff for giving up their time to make the camp possible. We look forward to hearing all about it when they return!

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the camp the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school of $45 per child under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program. This will be paid directly to school upon completion of the camp and has already been deducted from the total cost of the camp.

Year 1 Melbourne Museum Excursion

Our Year 1 students recently headed to Melbourne Museum as part of their inquiry into Living Things and Life Cycles. The students had a great time exploring the museum, getting hands-on with their learning and finding out more about how plants and animals grow and change. It was such an exciting day of learning and exploring!

Year 3 Incursion

Our Year 3 students got up close with some fascinating animals as part of their inquiry into Life Cycles. Students took part in a Reptile Encounters education program, where they learned about a range of animals and explored how they grow and change through their different life cycles. 

Are you leaving AGPS in 2027?

There is a great demand for places at our school and we are required to carefully manage all enrolments to ensure there are enough places for all students who reside within our school zone. To assist us with this, please inform us as soon as possible if you have a prep child starting in 2027 or know of any other students who may be joining us in 2027. Similarly, if your child will no longer be attending AGPS in 2027 please let us know. All this information helps us greatly with planning.

Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey

We want to hear what you think!

A reminder that our annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is now open. The survey gives you an opportunity to share your views about our school, including student learning, wellbeing, engagement and behaviour.

The survey is optional and takes around 20 minutes to complete, but we strongly encourage as many families as possible to participate. Your feedback helps us identify areas for improvement and informs our planning for the future.

Survey closes: Friday 18 September 2026

The survey can be completed online using a computer, tablet or smartphone. Information and the survey link have been shared via Compass.
