Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan! – Happy Indonesian Independence Day!
(A reminder that the actual date is Monday 17 August.
At BNWP we will celebrate on FRIDAY with Lombah Kerupuk at lunchtime (if anyone has time to help out with this please let me know!) and a special item at assembly by JSR.
It would also be great if we could all wear red and white (Indonesia’s national colours) or batik.
If possible, the middles will share a ‘national drink’ of Indonesia with the school as part of the exploration of Indonesian food.
Our Big Idea’s for this learning cycle are:
| Foundation | Indonesia has lots of stories about Kancil. |
| Grade 1 | Things I can do! |
| Grade 2 | Colours and music can show how we feel. |
| Middles | Trying new foods can be an exciting adventure. |
| Seniors | We can use our language skills to create an art exhibition of ‘karakter dongeng’. |
Middle school students have asked where to go to buy kerupuk. Answer: Grand Laguna Supermarket, one in Hawthorn and another in South Bank.
Congratulations to all junior students who gave oral presentations of their batiks last week. Batiks, workbooks and presentation certificates should have made it home in their bags: please celebrate these at home as they have done a great job!!!
