Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have  served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Grandparent's / Special Friends Day 2025

On Friday, 1st August (Week Two of Term Three), we will celebrate “Grandparents / Special Friends Day” with classrooms open for visitors from 9:00am - 10:00am and then a whole school special concert from 10:00am - 10:40am.

All classes will present a short song, dance or musical item during this concert!

This event is a week after the Feast of St. Anne and St. Joachim, the parents of Mary, the Mother of Jesus.

Children are encouraged to invite a special family friend or grandparent to have a look at their work, enjoy a classroom activity with them and then attend the concert!

Special Baptism Mass

Last week our P/1/2 students were privileged to witness the Sacrament of Baptism. Aimee Lawlor is one of our wonderful Learning Support Officers and her two boys Anthony and Russel were welcomed into the Church Community in a mass celebrated by Fr Joe Taylor. Our junior students sang beautifully and enjoyed being able to experience the sacrament they had learnt so much about in class. Thank you to the parishioners who also joined us for the special celebration.

Thank you from St Vinnies!

Thank you to everyone that contributed to our recent Vinnies Winter Appeal. St Vinnies were very appreciative!

“Along the Track” article.

The latest edition of “Along the Track” entitled “Stories to Tell” is attached to today’s newsletter.

Not so long ago I was talking to a friend who told me that he had never read a novel. He is an avid reader, but not of novels. “They’re just made-up, make believe,” he said.  That may be the case, but stories don’t just entertain, they help us understand others, what it is like to walk in their shoes. They help us understand our world, where we came from and why and how we got here. They can help us imagine the future and think about the future we would like.

Kind regards,

Ann-Margaret Carroll
