Greetings all,
What a great start to the year it has been at Somerville P.S. We currently have a school enrolment of 392 students including 54 grade prep students. The growth in the school population is indicative of the high - quality government school education offered at Somerville P.S. Thank you to the entire Somerville P.S community in how you have welcomed and assisted me in carrying out the Acting Principal role at Somerville P.S. during Term 1. I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to work with the wonderful Somerville staff to continue to deliver outstanding learning outcomes for all our students.
Our Grade 5/6 students have returned recently from a three-day camp at Merricks. Thank you to all the staff and volunteer parents who attended the camp to allow this to happen.

Covered Outdoor Learning Area – (roof over the basketball courts)
We are all very excited about the prospect of this project being completed this year. We are progressing to the next stage of the process and are now in the final stages of the design phase. Next step we will be in the construction phase so hopefully if all goes to plan the entire project will be completed by the end of Term 3/ start of Term 4 this year. Mr G and I are regularly meeting with representatives from the V.S.B.A, D.E.T, Somerville School Council and appointed architects to ensure the finished build will be an outstanding learning space to continue to enhance student outcomes even further.
We have NAPLAN testing commencing on the 13th of March, and we are looking forward to seeing our Grade 3 & 5 students achieving great results once again. If you have any questions or queries about NAPLAN, then please contact Shane Gagiero (Mr. G) Somerville.ps@education.vic.gov.au
