What a big first term of Sport at MPW, see a wrap up below. Term 2 we are looking forward to:
- District Cross Country 20th May
- Athletics Trials
- Winter Carnival Days Friday 31st May and Friday 7th June
5/6 Summer Carnival Days
All of the Gr 5/6 students participated in two Summer Sport Carnival Days. The students represented our school in Cricket, Hot Shots Tennis and Soccer. All of our teams displayed great support for each other and put into place the skills we practised in Team Building at the start of last term. Well done to everyone and a special shout out to Carley and her Cricket team who were winners of the 1 v 2 final.
Essendon Hockey Club Clinics
Last term we also had Chris and Tyson from Essendon Hockey Club visit us to conduct some clinics to various F/1, 2, 3/4 & 5/6 classes. Our students had lots of fun playing games and learning new skills. Essendon is our closest Hockey club and if you are interested in getting your child involved, they run junior programs for all age groups.
Maribyrnong Park Football Clinics
We also had a visit from Maribyrnong Park Football club who visited our school to run some football clinics. Thank you to the coaches who took the time to help us with our footy skills and share some information about another great community club.
Gymnastics in F/1
The F/1 students participated in some Gymnastics clinics from The Melbourne Tumbling Company.
The students enjoyed rolling, jumping, balancing and learning some new tricks. Thanks to Ivy P and Layla from Room 8 who supported some of our sessions and giving us some of their expert advice.
Cross Country Trials
Last Friday we held our Cross Country trials at school. Again there was a great atmosphere as the students competed for a place in our district cross country team. Well done to everyone who participated and congratulations to the students who will now represent our school on Monday 20th May. Thanks to all the Parents and Carers who supported us on the day and supervised the course.
Regional Swimming
Congratulations to Lilly A, Sophia B and Alexander T who have qualified to compete at Reginal Swimming last term. A fantastic achievement to make it to these finals. All three swimmers enjoyed their day in Geelong. Thanks to all our parents for supporting the Sport program.
