Junior Performing Arts
Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students have continued to enjoy learning the ukulele this term.
Our Foundation students have been developing their skills by learning how to hold and strum their ukuleles correctly. They have also learnt the names of the strings and the different parts of the instrument through a variety of fun and engaging games. Recently, they celebrated an exciting milestone by learning their first chord – the C chord!
Our Grade 1 and Grade 2 students have continued to build on their ukulele skills by revising the C chord and learning the A minor (Am) chord. They are becoming more confident playing together, strumming in time as a group and stopping together with excellent coordination.
All junior students have thoroughly enjoyed learning Eastern Rosella, a song written by Australian eight-year-old Miles Philips. This has inspired some wonderful classroom discussions, and we are looking forward to creating our own animal-themed songs using the same tune in the coming weeks.
Senior Performing Arts
Drama has dropped in Monty!
This term the focus for our senior students is drama! We have been learning a variety of theatre sports, developing skills in improvisation, expression and interpretation. One of the sports we have been learning is called "30 second sports"
In small groups, students are given a sport (or sporting scenario) to represent in a human freeze frame... no talking!
The audience's job is to guess what sport they are representing with the students holding their pose until their sport is figured out. So much fun and such creative interpretations!
