Swimming Carnival
Friday, February 14th, was particularly special this year, not only for those celebrating Valentine's Day but also for the annual Tenterfield High School (THS) Swimming Carnival. The weather was ideal, making the pool an inviting respite for all attendees. This year's carnival recorded the highest student participation in the past four years. This surge in attendance contributed to an increase in enthusiastic cheering from the House areas, a greater number of participants in both main and novelty events, and an abundance of color and excitement not seen in previous years.
The Senior cohort embraced an '80s theme, complete with iconic music emanating from the DJ tent, ensuring a lively and vibrant atmosphere throughout the day.
The competition for the House championship was intense, requiring meticulous verification of results to determine the winner. After thorough calculations, Cunningham House emerged victorious, with Stewart House finishing a close second. Oxley and Parkes Houses still have opportunities to earn points in the upcoming Cross Country, Athletics Carnival, and Term House sports, which could influence the race for the annual House champion.
A special mention goes to Annie Potter, who once again broke several long-standing records during the carnival, records listed below:
Open 200m Freestyle - Annie Potter with a time of 2.29.30
33m 15yrs Girls Freestyle - Annie Potter with a time of 18.03
33m 15yrs Girls Butterfly - Annie Potter with a time of 19.41
Senior Girls100m Freestyle - Annie Potter with a time of 1.08.81
