Hamilton Eisteddfod

Congratulations to all Junior School students who took to the stage in last week’s 62nd Hamilton Eisteddfod. Well over one-third of our students were involved. Their dedication, commitment and bravery were rewarded with a plethora of excellent results. Music is very much alive and thriving at College. Thank you to all in the College Music Department for their dedication and expertise. We are indeed blessed to have them work with our students.

Sense of Community

Over the long weekend, many had the pleasure, and possibly pain, of taking part in the 2026 Serra Terror. Throughout the two days, I encountered Myrniong parents, teaching staff, current students, past students and their families, all working in teams to complete the course, or volunteering their time to assist in running this special local event. It brought home to me the depth of connection we share, and the sense of community in which everyone feels valued, respected, and included.

One of the things that makes the College so special is our strong sense of community. Every day, we see students supporting one another, families partnering with staff, and members of our school community coming together to create a welcoming and caring environment. A sense of belonging helps us all thrive. Whether it is through classroom activities, school events, sporting opportunities, performances, or simple acts of kindness, these shared experiences help build meaningful connections and lasting memories.

There is a lovely Māori proverb - "He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata." Translated, it means: "What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people."
