Long Weekend Homestays

I hope that the long-weekend just passed provided a chance for some extended rest and family time, and for senior students to finalise their exam preparation leading into this week. I would like to extend my thanks again here to those College families who took in one or more of our international students for a homestay across the boarding house exeat weekend.

International Student Coordinator, Penny Callinan, conveys her thanks below, much better than I can:

Sincere thanks to the College families who opened their homes to our international students on the long weekend.

We had tales of horse riding, baking, hiking, joining in the Casterton Kelpie Muster parade, trampolining, shopping and board game nights as part of the mix of a fun weekend away.

All these activities in addition to an opportunity to rest and recharge in a warm family environment.

Thank you to all the families who offered to host students. I am hopeful we can make this a regular feature of our long weekends in the future.

The parents of our international students are very grateful for the care and generosity extended to their children when they are so far from home.

I echo Penny’s message, and encourage you to consider hosting a homestay for one or more international students when the next exeat weekend comes around. The fabulous photo of Celestine Chen and Chloe Liu with the Uebergang / Weatherly family captures the positives of the weekend, and the point of the program beautifully.

Parents and Friends Trivia Night

I am very much looking forward to the Parents and Friends Trivia Night this Saturday. Ordinarily, I am not especially competitive, but this changes when there’s trivia on the table... My thanks to all parent volunteers who have assisted with the evening, but especially to Kate Wall for her overall coordination, and to quiz-master Hugh Koch.
