Welcome to IPS

At Ivanhoe Primary School we value the diversity of culture, ethnicity, and faith of all our students. We are proud of our diversity, and everyone is welcome at our school.

Celebrating the diversity of our community makes us stronger.

We are committed to making sure that students from all backgrounds feel accepted, supported, included; and ready to learn.

We teach all students according to our school values and teach the respectful relationships framework. This includes education around diversity and inclusion.

To achieve our values and aims, we say everyone at Ivanhoe Primary School has an important role to play. To help us make Ivanhoe Primary School a place where everyone feels welcome, respected and supported, we encourage you to talk with your child about our school and community values.

We expect families to  live our school values when dealing with other members of our school community.

It is up to all of us at Ivanhoe Primary School to make our school a place that is free of racism and where everyone feels respected and can learn in a safe and inclusive environment.

IPS School Fair Update

The 2025 Fair Committee met at the end of last year and discussed the pros and cons of running a biannual fair. Consideration was given to the difficulty of recruiting volunteers, the growing scarcity of local business support and the escalating financial imposts on families / cost of living etc. ThIs was discussed at the last meeting of school council and the consensus was that a School Fair would be best scheduled every third year.

A “walk-a-thon” is scheduled for 2026 leaving room for discussion to determine the 2027 major fundraising event. PFA have a meeting in June to consider a new fundraising event.

A new fundraising event would require approval from School Council.

Year 6 Arcade Games Fundraiser for Camp

Step right up, step right up to have fun and lower the cost of Year 6 camp. Please see the attached flyer for the upcoming Year 6 Arcade Games Day fundraiser. We'd love to see you there!

Students in Year 6 have shared their incredible ideas and plans with each other, inspiring all of us to get our projects into full swing, as we approach the pointy end of our timeline.

Projects are due for completion in week 9 and our Arcade Day camp fundraiser will take place in week 10 (last week of term). Ideally, projects should be well under construction at this point.

Ivanhoe Primary students at inter-school chess competition

I just wanted to share a brief update from today’s inter-school chess competition, which brought together students from 12 schools.

IPS was represented by William Lee and Ian Long who both participated with great enthusiasm throughout the day. It was also wonderful to see the IPS chess coach there supporting the students during the tournament.

I am especially pleased to share that William was awarded the P–6 Star of the Tournament Trophy. Ian, who is in Year 2, also performed exceptionally well, demonstrating impressive concentration and resilience across all rounds. Congratulations to both boys!

2026 Year 6 Camp Fundraiser - 2 spots left!

Dear year 6 families,

We are reaching out for your support as we work together to make our Year 6 Canberra Camp as affordable as possible for all 75 families in our cohort. As you know, camp is a milestone experience that builds independence, connection, and lifelong memories.

To help reduce costs for every family, we will be running a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser on Sunday June 28th, from 8:00am to 4:00pm, and we need your help to make it a success. WE HAVE 2 SPOTS LEFT!

To run the day safely and smoothly, we must fill every volunteer slot across the full eight hours. Even one hour of your time will make a meaningful difference. Every dollar raised directly reduces the cost of camp for your child and their peers. Your contribution genuinely benefits the whole community.

Huge thanks to Pete Munt for taking on the role of BBQ Captain
