Year 7&8 Interschool Basketball and Table Tennis

The Year 7&8 Interschool Basketball and Table Tennis Day was a tremendous success, with more than 100 students representing Warrandyte High School with enthusiasm, teamwork, and determination. Our basketball teams showed exceptional resilience and spirit, with the boys competing in five consecutive games and maintaining a positive attitude throughout, while the Year 8 girls narrowly missed the grand final by a single point before bouncing back to secure an impressive 3rd place finish winning by 1 point. Our second girls team demonstrated significant growth across the day, consistently improving with each match. In table tennis, students displayed excellent skill and composure, highlighted by strong performances from Dylan, Morgan, and Lincoln, who each dropped only one game.

Supporting the event were our Year 10 VET Sport, Aquatic and Recreation students, who successfully completed their Continually Improve Officiating Skills and Knowledge assessment by officiating the basketball competition. They demonstrated professionalism, fairness, and confidence, ensuring all games were run to a high standard. Their work, alongside the efforts of other year  9&10 student coaches, scorers, and umpires, contributed greatly to the smooth running and overall success of the day.

Year 7&8 Interschool Gala Day

The Term 4 Sports Gala Day provided a wonderful opportunity for Year 7 and 8 students to participate in mixed-year teams across four sports: Futsal, Ultimate Frisbee, Handball, and Tag Rugby. The event fostered teamwork, leadership, and positive relationships across the cohorts. Whilst the futsal and ultimate frisbee teams did not secure wins, they displayed resilience, enthusiasm, and continual improvement throughout the day. Both the Handball and Tag Rugby teams progressed to the grand final, demonstrating excellent teamwork and consistent effort. Unfortunately both teams were unsuccessful at gaining the champion title, however their perseverance and team work alone was award worthy. At the Hanball competition the year 8 Boys handball team recorded two impressive wins, the Year 7 Girls celebrated a strong victory of their own and the Year 8 Girls dominated their pool and progressed directly to the grand final, narrowly missing the championship by just one point. Students engaged fully in the day’s activities, showing sportsmanship, cooperation, respect and a positive attitude. Their behaviour and commitment were a credit to the school. We also extend our sincere thanks to the staff who supported and facilitated the event. Their organisation and enthusiasm were instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the day.
