Mid-Autumn Festival with Warmth and Joy

This is a bright spring afternoon, Warrandyte High School’s international students gathered to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival — a cherished tradition in many East Asian cultures that symbolises reunion, gratitude, and the beauty of the full moon.

The event was filled with laughter, stories, and the sweet aroma of mooncakes. Students shared traditional mooncakes with various fillings, from lotus seed paste to red bean, while learning about the cultural significance behind this ancient festival. For many, it was a taste of home. The room buzzed with excitement and connection.

Academic Support Helps International Students Thrive at Warrandyte High School

International students are not only welcomed — they are supported every step of the way. Students are encouraged to build confidence in their English skills, understand subject content, and develop effective study habits.

“We understand that studying in a new country can be both exciting and challenging,” said Ms. Yolanda Sun, International Student Coordinator. “That’s why we focus on building strong relationships and providing consistent, personalized support.”

In addition to academic help, students also benefit from regular check-ins, goal-setting meetings, and access to bilingual resources. Teachers are trained to provide differentiated instruction, and students are encouraged to ask questions and seek help early.

As the school continues to grow its international program, the commitment to student wellbeing and academic success remains at the heart of its mission. At Warrandyte High, every student is given the opportunity to shine.
