F-2 SWIMMING LESSONS - WEEK 8
The junior swimming lessons at Gurri Wanyarra are approaching quickly. The lessons run over 5 days (Monday 24th - Friday 28th November) in week 8.
The swimming lesson times for each year level are:
Grade 2 - 12pm
Grade 1 - 12:45pm
Foundation - 1:30pm
**These are different to the bus times. Buses will leave Holy Rosary 30 minutes before hand. Please check you PAM note for this information and anything further that you may need to know.
*The Thursday session is a Water Safety Day. Please pack a spare t-shirt and shorts your child can wear in the water. These can be casual clothes - they don't need to be a school uniform.
It is extremely helpful if your child can wear their bathers underneath their school uniform to school. A pair of slip-on shoes (thongs, slides, etc) can be worn to and from the pool but students must wear their normal school shoes to and from school.
HOLY ROSARY SWIMMING CARNIVAL (GRADES 3-6)
On Monday, 1st December we will be having our Holy Rosary Swimming Carnival. This will be held at Bendigo East Pool. This event will start around 10am and finish around 12:45pm. This event will be lots of fun, if your child isn't a confident swimmer there will be 25m events at the shallow end of the pool (where they can stand up). Students can also use kickboards for the 25m events. If your child is a keen swimmer who is aiming to qualify for the next stages at the start of 2026, there will be timed 50m events. All in all, it should be a great day, students will wear their house colours, be able to earn points and ribbons and best of all have heaps of fun.
***Further information will be sent out via a PAM note.
***We will require some parent helpers to time each lane, if you are able to assist please email me at tcoates@hrwhitehills.catholic.edu.au
STATE ATHLETICS
On behalf of Holy Rosary, congratulations to Ngaire M and Mack G who represented our school at the State Athletic Championships. This event was held on Thursday at the Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne. Both students have been training very hard and showing great dedication towards their events, even seeking professional coaching and training after school at the Bendigo Athletics Track. Ngaire finished 7th in the state for 10yr old Discus and Mack finished equal 9th in the 12yr boys High Jump. We are very proud of both students, and we wish them all the best as they continue their sporting endeavors.
CRICKET BLAST COMPETITION
Today we had 36 students across Grades 5 and 6 represent Holy Rosary at the Bendigo Schools Cricket Carnival. We had two boys teams and two girls teams enter the competition. It was just fantastic to see so many students give it a go, particularly having a lot of the students who have never played competition cricket before. Each team had the opportunity to play 4 games for the day.
Our results; Div 1 boys finished with 2 wins and a draw, Div 2 boys had 3 wins and 1 loss, Div 1 girls come away with 2 wins and 2 losses and unfortunately our Div 2 girls didn't notch up a win. Most importantly though our students had lots of fun, tried their best and showed outstanding sportsmanship. We were very proud of the way they represented themselves and our school. A big thank you to the coaches Mrs Morrison, Mr Purcell and Mr Morris. We look forward to participating again next year.
