ODDER

If you like animal adventure books then I think you will enjoy reading Odder.

Odder is a playful and adventurous otter who, one day, goes too far away from her kelp forest home. During this adventure she faces danger, overcomes challenges and makes new friends.

I have rated the book 3/5. I enjoyed reading this book because it was engaging. It is most suitable for 8-11 year olds.

Odder would make a great read aloud class novel as it is touching, suspenseful, funny and interesting.

The story is also based on real animals from the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. They have a program that pairs orphaned otters with surrogate mothers. Please see a link to their amazing website below:

The Great Book Swap

This winter break is the perfect time to have a sort out of your book shelves at home so PLEASE keep us in mind for any books that are in a good condition and most importantly suitable reading for Primary aged students.

This is a wonderful opportunity too, for sharing a great book that you have just finished and would like to share that enjoyment with someone else!

What is the Great Book Swap?

The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading locally, learn more about Indigenous Languages and culture, while raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. By hosting a Great Book Swap Karoo students and families will be actively helping gift 18,000 new, carefully chosen books to children in remote Communities across the country.

On the day of the event all donated books will be displayed on tables; students will visit the Library with their class to browse the books and leave a gold coin donation in exchange for a book.
