Expressions of interest to complete a work experience placement at the Parliament of Victoria in terms 1 and 2, 2026 are now open. Please visit our website and lodge an expression of interest via the online link: https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/teach-and-learn/work-experience/
Students can choose between two programs - Sitting and Services. Placements are open to students in Victorian schools who are residents of Victoria, and are aged 15 years or over at the time of the placement. My name is Marita Cheng. I was the 2012 Young Australian of the Year for my work with Robogals, teaching 140,000 students robotics and getting them interested in STEM.
Working together with undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Melbourne, University of Queensland, University of Adelaide, University of Western Australia, and others, we have developed a course to teach school students up to a 2nd year university-level of computer science knowledge.
In January 2026, we are hosting the National Computer Science Workshop (NCSW) for years 8-11 students. Applications close on 1 November 2025.

Year 12s, are you ready to save lives?
You’re 18 (or nearly there), and that means you can officially become a blood donor. It’s one of the most powerful ways to make a difference in your community.
Every blood donation can save up to three lives. Cancer patients, people recovering from surgery, and newborns are all counting on donors like you.
Here’s the deal
It takes an hour
You get free snacks (yes, party pies, chocolate milk and popcorn are involved)
You walk out a hero
No cape required. Just your arm, a bit of time, and some heart.
If you’re healthy, 18, and keen to save lives, it’s time to book your first donation. Why not grab a few mates, donate together, and start a life-saving tradition.
To register, check you’re eligible and book your donation visit lifeblood.com.au, download the Lifeblood app or call 13 14 95
