This week, students in the Polly Farmer Follow the Dream program embarked on an overnight camp to Naarm. This included a STEM “Torque Talk” with Simon Pampena and Simon Galbraith at Bridgestone Tyres in Truganina, where our group learnt about new career pathways and measured their strength.
We experienced Bangarra’s performance of Illume at the Melbourne Arts Centre. We were moved by the way the dancers represented the life within Country. We connected with Tim Stares (Gunditjmara) and Rob Hyatt (Wotjobaluk/Gunai Kurnai) from the Koorie Heritage Trust, who shared their career journeys in protecting artefacts and culture, and reconnecting families. Tim also walked with us along Birrarung Marr and shared his knowledge about the artworks there.
A key takeaway from this camp was that there are some amazing jobs out there to keep our culture strong.

WHC SRC ( Years 7-11) participated in the Regional student voice conference
The RSVC brings together passionate young voices to explore the issues that matter most in regional education — and to shape meaningful, student-led solutions. With keynote speakers, peer-led workshops, and the chance to influence real change, this is a must-attend event for student leadership teams who are committed to making a difference not only in their school community, but across the entire network. This is a valuable opportunity to amplify student voice and foster a culture of active participation and change.

Students at WHC are encouraged to ‘Call Out’ poor behaviours they may be exposed to, witness, or hear of in our community.
If you hear something that is not right, or feel uncomfortable in our community, we want to hear from you!
Students are encouraged to email their Year Level address, where concerns will be resolved.
