Expressions of Interest for Parent Representatives on NCS Board

In accordance with Clause 42 of the company constitution, the Board is calling for expressions of interest for parent representative on the Nowra Christian School's Board.

 

One parent representative position on the School is up for nomination and election each year. This will take place prior to the School's Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 26th August.

 

Mrs Fiona Lewis is the current parent representative finishing her 2-year term. Fiona has indicated that she would like to finish at the end of this term, we thank Fiona for the contributions she has made to the board during her term.  

 

If there are any possible parent candidates who would like to put their name forward to be considered for this position, please email secretary@ncs.nsw.edu.au or contact Chris Bongers via the office before Friday, 7 August so an official nomination form can be sent to you.

 

All candidates must be Christian and must agree with the school’s statement of doctrines and beliefs and must have the support of 2 other parents for the school body to complete the nomination form.


Urgently Needed: HSC Supervisors

Are you interested in being a HSC Supervisor? 

 

HSC Supervisors are paid by NESA. If you can meet the criteria below and are interested in doing this role, please complete the Expression of Interest Form.

 

The main role of supervisors is to make sure all students follow NESA’s exam rules. Supervisors report to the HSC Presiding Officer and help them with other duties.

 

A supervisor’s duties may include:

  • checking exam rooms are properly equipped and set up
  • supervising students in exam rooms
  • collecting completed exam papers
  • packing up after exams.

 

Supervisors receive a roster from their Presiding Officer. The length and number of shifts a supervisor receives depend on the number of exams held at each school. Supervisors may supervise at more than one school.

 

Supervisors must:

  • have a valid Working with Children Check
  • work as part of a team
  • have attention to detail
  • be able to carry out duties in confidence and with discretion
  • be able to stand for long periods of time.

 

Supervisors must not supervise at any school where they have a friend or close relative who is:

  • sitting the HSC, or
  • an employee of the school.

Seeking Volunteers – Reader/Writers for the HSC Exams

We are seeking volunteers to build our pool of reader/writers who assist during the Trial HSC and HSC examinations.

 

Reader/writers support students who have approved provisions by either reading exam questions aloud, writing down student responses, or both.

 

No prior experience is needed. Full instructions will be provided to help you feel confident in the role. Volunteers need to be available during school hours and have a current Working With Children Check.

Absences

If your child will be absent for school, it would be appreciated if you could complete and submit the form below (this is on the Parent Portal, so you will need to log in with your Veracross Login). If no notification is received, an SMS will be sent out to you which will require you complete the same absence form.

 

This form can be completed in advance if you know your child will be away from school for any reason. However it cannot be completed retrospectively, please contact the office if you need to explain a past absence.
