Celebrating creativity at NCS
Term 3 is an intense term for our HSC Drama students. For the HSC they must perform a group performance. These group performances are devised dramas. Devising a drama means starting, not with a script, but with an idea or concept. The group then has to create a drama that helps the audience to consider that concept in a creative, impactful way. This means making decisions about characters, storyline, theatrical styles and techniques. This process is a terrific way to develop performance and drama skills, but also all the soft skills needed for the future such as collaboration, problem solving and creativity.
All of our students for 2026 have elected to perform for their individual project also. This means that on top of developing and polishing their group drama, they are also rehearsing a monologue. Among them the students have all chosen very different pieces, allowing them to lean into their own style. The trial performance, like the trial exams for written papers, takes place in Week 4 and the HSC examiners will come to the school during Week 6 or 7.
Please pray for this talented and hard working group of students as they work together.
