Music News

Jenny Coleman

It’s been a busy start to the year with swimming lessons now over and IMSS instrumental lessons well underway. There have been several changes to all teacher's timetables (specialists and classroom teachers) and to the IMSS timetable but now, thankfully everything seems to have settled down into a routine.

All ensembles and the Senior Choir will be up and running from Week 7 of this term.

The following groups are available for students to participate in:

Senior Choir (Year 4 – 6 students)  Monday mornings from 7:45 am – 8:30 am in the Music room.

Wind Band (Year 6 Flutes, Clarinets, Brass and Percussion) will be on Monday afternoons from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Music room.

All Year 6 Flute, Clarinet, Brass and Percussion students must attend Wind Band on Monday afternoons.

Recorder Ensemble (only competent recorder students are invited to attend this ensemble) will be on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00 pm – 3:45 pm in the Music room.

String Orchestra will be on Wednesday mornings from 7:30 am – 8:30 am in the School Hall with Miss Huang. It is compulsory for all Year 5 & 6 String students (Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass) to attend String Orchestra on Wednesday mornings. (Year 5 Double Bass students are not expected to attend until Year 6.)

Unfortunately, due to my increased classroom load this year, Junior Choir will no longer be running. Chamber Strings Ensemble will also not be available this year.

Senior Choir is voluntary however, if your child signs up for this group, it is expected that they attend morning rehearsals regularly and remain fully committed for the whole year. If your child wishes to join Senior Choir, they will need to start attending rehearsals from Monday 11th March and sign up on the day. I will accept new students into Senior Choir during Term 1 from Weeks 7 – 9, however, once numbers reach full capacity, student's names will be placed on a waiting list.
