Ride2School Day

Thursday the 28th of March is Burrendah Primary School’s Ride2School and Dress Up your Bike Day. Ride2School Day is where students, teachers and parents discover the joy of riding and kick-start healthy habits for the future. Ride2School Day aims to increase the number of young people using active modes of travel to get to school. We want as many Burrendah students to ride or scoot to school, so get your bikes or scooters ready for the big day. Every BPS student who rides their bike or scooter to school on this day will receive a point for their faction, a cool bike sticker and they will also be in the running for $50 bike vouchers for the coolest dressed-up bike. There will be three categories for judging; the first is PP and Years 1 and 2, the second category is Years 3 and 4, and the third is Years 5 and 6.

Before and After School Routines

Before School Routines

One of our school routines/rules is for all students from Pre-primary to Year 6 who arrive at school before 8:30 am to wait in the undercover area until the hand bell is rung at 8:30am. This is so that our Associate Principal Mr Bradshaw can supervise them and keep them safe until the classrooms are open at 8.30am.

If a student is with their parent/carer they can wait outside the classroom under the supervision of their parent/carers. However, please note that a parent or carer can only take responsibility for their child/ren, not their child/ren’s friends or other students in the area. Our school has a duty of care for students on the school site once their parents have left and this duty of care is not transferable to other adults.

Only kindergarten students can play on the playground equipment (in the kindergarten area) before school. Children should not be playing in any other areas or playgrounds before school.

After School Routines

At the end of the school day students are asked to leave school promptly if walking or riding their bike.

To ensure your child’s safety please pick your children up on time, notifying Reception (9266 6200)  if you are unexpectedly detained.

Parents/carers must inform class teachers if they are requesting someone else to pick up their child from Kindergarten and Pre-primary (please be reminded that an adult must pick up Kindergarten students).

Willetton Senior High School (WSHS) students are asked to wait outside the school gates at the new front entrance until 3.00pm to collect a sibling unless the high school student is in the company of their parent/guardian or they are picking up a sibling in Cygnet Block.

Students from Kindergarten to Year 2 can play in the ECE playground in Cygnet Block from 3:00-3:30pm under the supervision of their parent or (not WSHS sibling). Parents/guardians are asked to move to the grassed area and not wait on the verandah as teachers may still be working in classrooms and attending meetings. Please do not use the equipment that has been placed away (in large black boxes) as this equipment is for during school hours.

If any child in the school has not been picked up by 3:15pm they will be taken to Reception and their parent or carer will be phoned. Parents/carers and students are requested to vacate the school grounds by 3:30pm, unless participating in a school or community activity. If your child is participating in an after-school or community activity, please ensure any siblings are supervised by a parent/carer and are not playing on the school equipment near Pinetree Gully Road.

We thank your community for their ongoing support and cooperation with our before and after school routines – keeping our children safe is our primary focus, as well as respecting our school staff and their before and after school work commitments.
