Celebrating Catholic Schools Week

This week, our school community joins together with gratitude and excitement to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. It is a beautiful opportunity to reflect on our identity, our achievements, and the vibrant community we build together every single day.

Our theme for this year is 'A Hope-Filled Future,' a vision we bring to life by ensuring our students grow to be literate, numerate, and faith-filled individuals ready to make their mark on the world.

Catholic Schools Week reminds us of the incredible partnership between home, school, and parish. Thank you for entrusting us with your children’s educational journey.

A Faith-Filled Beginning

We commenced our celebrations with a beautiful whole-school Mass to honor

Our Lady, Help of Christians. It was a wonderful afternoon of prayer and reflection, setting a joyful tone for the week ahead.

The spiritual highlight of our week will take us on the road! We are looking forward to a fantastic day in Moree at St Xavier’s Church for the Deanery Mass. This is a significant event where all of our staff and students will attend, to celebrate our shared mission.

Fostering a Love for Reading

We have placed a strong spotlight on the power and significance of literacy. Reading opens doors to that 'hope-filled future' we desire for every child.

Today our students engaged in two fantastic literacy events:

  • The Shared 'Booknic' -  It was wonderful to see students gathering, sharing stories, and enjoying the simple bliss of a good book in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • National Simultaneous Storytime -  Joining hearts and minds with hundreds of thousands of students across the nation, we paused to read the same book at the exact same time with 2.3 million people across the world engaging in the book - Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller. It was a powerful reminder of how stories connect us all.

Term 4 Excursions

While we are deeply engaged in the achievements of this term, we are looking toward the future. Our staff is currently hard at work planning our Term 4 excursions

These trips are a vital part of our students' hands-on learning and social development, and we are putting together some fantastic itineraries. We look forward to sharing more detailed information an EOI and permission notes with families very soon!

Joey Awards!

I am absolutely ecstatic to see so many Joey Awards being brought to the office every single day! It is a joy to hear about the wonderful things our students are doing across the school.

A very special congratulations goes to our recent award recipients:

'Rules for Living':

  • Week 4: Sarah
  • Week 5: Elijah

Thank you, Sarah and Elijah, for being such outstanding role models and setting a fantastic example for us all.

Keep up the amazing work and well done to our students who are kicking goals in the classroom and earning 'Joey Awards'.

 Kindergarten Transition

Looking ahead to our 'hope-filled future' also means welcoming the newest members of our school family! We are delighted to announce that our Kindergarten Transition Program will commence in Term 3 and continue right through with sessions in Term 4.

This program is a wonderful way for our incoming big schoolers to familiarise themselves with our classrooms, meet their teachers, make new friends, and experience the joy of big school. We cannot wait to welcome these bright little faces to our community, and we will share exact dates and session details with families very soon.

Warm regards,

Jacqui Wait
