Review of FPS Child Safety Standards

Assistant Principal Update

Minimum Standards Review – Full Compliance

Last term, FPS underwent its Minimum Standards Review. The review has confirmed that FPS is fully compliant with all required Child Safety Standards, demonstrating a strong and ongoing commitment to the wellbeing and protection of every student.

The review process involved a comprehensive evaluation of the school’s policies, procedures, and practices. This included an assessment of how effectively the school creates and maintains a child-safe environment, promotes student voice, and ensures that all staff understand their responsibilities in safeguarding children. Evidence was gathered through documentation, staff training records, and implementation practices across the school.

The findings highlight that FPS has established a robust framework aligned with all Child Safety Standards. Clear policies are in place to prevent, identify, and respond to concerns of abuse or harm. These policies are not only documented but are actively embedded into daily school operations. Our staff demonstrate a strong understanding of child safety expectations, supported by regular training and ongoing professional development.

Importantly, we foster a culture where students feel safe, respected, and empowered to speak up. Mechanisms for reporting concerns are accessible and well-communicated, ensuring that students and families know how to raise issues confidently. The school also prioritises inclusivity, ensuring that child safety approaches consider the diverse needs of all students.

Leadership plays a critical role in maintaining compliance, and the review found that school leaders actively promote a culture of safety and accountability. Regular monitoring and review processes are in place to ensure continuous improvement and responsiveness to emerging risks.

Achieving full compliance is a significant accomplishment; however, we recognise that child safety is an ongoing responsibility. The commitment extends beyond meeting minimum requirements, with a focus on continuous reflection, improvement, and strengthening of practices.
