As we approach the final weeks of Term 3, I want to take a moment to reflect on the vibrant energy and community spirit that continues to define life at St Mary’s College. With just a few weeks remaining before our last day of term on Thursday 25 September, our students and staff are embracing every opportunity to learn, connect and celebrate.
Book Week: Book an Adventure
One of the highlights of this fortnight has been our celebration of Book Week. The College came alive with colour, creativity and imagination as students and staff dressed up as their favourite literary characters. The theme, ‘Book an Adventure’, was embraced wholeheartedly across all year levels. From classroom activities to library displays and storytelling sessions, it was a joy to see our students so engaged with the world of books. A special thank you to our Student Resource Centre (library) team and teaching staff for their enthusiasm and effort in making Book Week such a memorable experience.

Year 6 SMC and SVC Band Day
Another standout event was the Year 6 Band Day, held in collaboration with St Virgil’s College. This musical exchange provided a wonderful opportunity for our Year 6 students to rehearse and perform alongside their peers from SVC. The day was filled with harmony, both musically and socially, as students built confidence, developed their ensemble skills and forged new friendships. The final performance was a testament to their hard work and the dedication of our Music staff. Events like these remind us of the power of collaboration and the joy of shared achievement.
Alumni connections: Year 3 and our past students
We were also delighted to welcome back several of our alumni for a special event with our Year 3 students. This intergenerational gathering offered a unique chance for our younger students to hear stories from the past and learn about the rich history of St Mary’s College. The alumni shared their memories of school life, favourite teachers and how their time at the College shaped their journeys beyond the classroom. It was a heartwarming exchange that highlighted the enduring connection between past and present members of our community. We are grateful to our alumni for their continued involvement and support.
Looking ahead
As we move toward the end of the term, I encourage all students to stay focused and finish strong. There is still much to look forward to, including final assessments, cocurricular activities and community events. I also remind families to mark Thursday 25 September as the final day of term in their calendars.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in nurturing the growth and wellbeing of every student at St Mary’s College. Together, we continue to build a community where learning, faith and friendship flourish.
