ALICE IN WONDERLAND JR.

In Week 1 of Term 4, the Mercy Theatre was transformed into a world of colour and curiosity as fifty students from Years 7 to 11 took audiences on a journey through Alice in Wonderland Jr.

Blending the wonder of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale with songs from both the Disney original and the latest film adaptations, the production dazzled audiences with its creativity and heart.

For many students, this was their musical theatre debut, while others returned as confident performers after Matilda Jr (2023) and other community productions. Every student shone on stage, proving the strength of our performing arts program.

Behind the scenes, staff and students devoted countless hours to rehearsals, design, and production, and their hard work truly paid off. A special thank you also goes to our college community and families for their enthusiastic support throughout the season.

The curtain may have fallen, but the creativity and collaboration that defined Alice in Wonderland Jr. will continue to inspire us all.

Director

HPV MURRAY BRIDGE 24-HOUR RACE

Our Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) squad consistently brought excellence to the track for 24 consecutive hours from Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 September at the Australian HPV Super Series Murray Bridge 24 Hour Race.

When the last gruelling second had passed, everyone had reason to celebrate:

Senior School S3 Mixed Category

  • Resilience – First Place (465 Laps)
  • Mallee Missile – Third Place (425 Laps)
  • Sunraysia Star – Fourth Place (392 Laps)

Middle School S2 Mixed Category

  • Genesis – Second Place (426 Laps)

Asher Brigante again received a medal for the fastest lap in the Senior Schools Mixed Category, and our very own Lilliana Bertalli sang the national anthem before the race.

Congratulations to all our racers! Their next event will be the awesome Energy Breakthrough in Maryborough from 19 to 23 November.

Thanks to all the parents and volunteers from our community who worked so hard to keep everyone fed, warm, and motivated. We couldn't do this without you!

NASA STUDY TOUR – MISSION 2

The college’s second mission to Cape Canaveral in the US state of Florida left Mildura on Thursday 25 September and returned on Friday 10 October.

While they were away, our students immersed themselves in the practical applications of STEM, from space exploration and emerging technologies to theme park planning and game design. They explored the moon and Mars through simulators at the Kennedy Space Center, toured Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, participated in workshops at Full Sail University, and even attended a presentation by former astronaut Robert Cenker.

Both of this year’s NASA Study Tours allowed students to observe many scientific disciplines in action. Through engaging real-world scenarios, they witnessed concepts taught in the classroom put into practice and can now better understand the benefits of studying science at the college and after Year 12. We hope to offer more tours like these in the future.
