Curriculum 

This term, our students are diving into a Civics and Citizenship unit focused on how our communities are run and the values that bring us together. We will be exploring the basics of government, law, and democracy, helping students understand how and why decisions are made democratically in our society. 

A big part of our focus will be looking closer to home at the vital role of local government, discovering how our families use and contribute to the services right here in our neighborhood. We’ll also be tackling the big differences between everyday "rules" (like the ones we have at home or school) and "laws," discussing why laws are so important for keeping everyone safe and how they shape our daily lives.

You might like to have a conversation with your child about which local government area you live in and what community programs, clubs or facilities you access. We would love to share these within our classrooms!
