Writing  

As part of reading Storm Boy, students will be learning about the Coorang in South Australia and learn how to write an information report. Students will learn the structure of an introduction which includes a General Statement, Specific Statement and a Thesis Statement. Furthermore, students will learn how to structure a body paragraph using the Single Paragraph Outline (SPO) which entails writing one topic sentence, three supporting details sentences and one concluding sentence. 

In addition, as part of reading The Wild Robot novel, students will also be learning about Persuasive Letter Writing. Students will learn about how to structure a formal letter that includes the date, senders and recipient address details. Students will learn how to use technical language, connectives and high modality words to persuade the reader about the topic of robots.
