From the Assistant Principal, Cocurricular
As we move into the holiday break, I wish all our travellers the very best of times as they head off on various tours. In particular, we wish our performing artists well as they head off to the UK and wish our 1st XV rugby players the best of luck as they head to Queensland.
We recognise that these tours do not take place without the generosity of our teaching staff and coaches who are giving up time with their own families to provide students with these experiences.

Basketball
Key Update
There has been significant work happening behind the scenes regarding an exciting new basketball partnership, which we are very close to finalising. While there were initial plans to run a basketball camp these holidays, this has unfortunately not been possible due to major works currently taking place at both Oxford Falls and at Chatswood. Looking ahead, we aim to advertise preseason training opportunities early in Term 3, subject to the progress of these upgrades, so please stay tuned for further details. Grading is scheduled to commence from Week 6, again dependent on available court spaces, and remains to be confirmed. Registrations for basketball will open early in Term 3 via Clipboard, with notifications shared with families through Woodchatta and with students via Canvas.

Rugby
It was another enjoyable day of rugby, with the 1st XV, 15A and 13B teams recording strong wins and plenty of positive performances across the programme. While results were mixed throughout the age groups, all teams competed with determination and represented the College with pride.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Supporters Day such a success. To our players, coaches, staff, parents, Old Boys and the many volunteers who gave their time throughout the day, your support created a fantastic atmosphere and showcased the strength of our rugby community.
Enjoy your break and training will resume Term 3 on Tuesday 21 July.
International Rugby Comes to Chaplin Oval
Next Tuesday 30 June, our rugby program has the exciting opportunity to host St Andrew’s College from Grahamstown, South Africa, with kick-off at 3:00 pm on Chaplin Oval at our Oxford Falls campus.
Schoolboy rugby tours are always a special occasion, and we are looking forward to welcoming a team with such a strong rugby tradition to St Pius X College. Matches like these provide a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against international opposition while also building friendships and connections through the game.
We encourage all students, staff, parents and supporters to come along and enjoy what promises to be a great afternoon of rugby. Your support will help create a fantastic atmosphere and give our South African visitors a warm Pius welcome.

Tennis
Last Saturday, SPX Tennis faced Redlands and Oxley in a strong round of matches. Our Division 9 and Division 10 teams both recorded excellent wins.
Meanwhile, our First IV team, sitting in second place, hosted third-placed Redlands in a crucial must-win fixture. We started strongly, taking a 2–0 lead after the opening doubles matches and maintained that momentum throughout the contest. The team went on to secure a convincing 5–3 victory, solidifying second place on the ladder.
This week at training the tennis players held their own 'World Cup' of tennis doubles tournament. Below are some photos from the Tuesday training group’s World Cup.
