Senior School Update 

Year 10s Take on Melbourne!

In week 6 of term, our Year 10 students swapped the classroom for the city, enjoying three action-packed days in Melbourne filled with learning, new experiences and plenty of fun!

The camp offered a fantastic mix of educational, cultural and recreational activities, including:

• Taking part in a Court Room Drama based on a culpable driving case, followed by tours of the Watch House and Old Melbourne Gaol.
• Taking in the incredible city views — and testing a few nerves — at the Eureka Skydeck.
• Hitting the ice at O’Brien Icehouse, with plenty of laughs and mishaps along the way!
• Stepping inside the interactive artworks and optical illusions at ArtVo.
• Exploring the underwater world at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.
• Challenging themselves at Hardrock Climbing.
• Enjoying some friendly competition at Kingpin Bowling.
• Hearing from The Big Issue and learning more about homelessness and disadvantage within the city.

It was a brilliant few days that gave students the opportunity to explore all that Melbourne has to offer, catch public transport by themselves, and forge some special memories with their classmates.

A big thank you to the staff (Mr McConnell, Ms Doyle and Mrs Duhring) who accompanied our Year 10 students and helped make the camp such an enjoyable and memorable experience! 

Project Ready Visit NCN Health

Our Year 10 Project Ready students had the opportunity to step inside the world of healthcare this week during an engaging visit to NCN Health in Cobram. Throughout the visit, students rotated through a range of departments, gaining an insight into Infection Control, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Wound Management, Administration and Communications, and Nursing.

There was plenty of hands-on learning over the course of the day, with students having the chance to take blood pressure, practise cleaning wounds using sterile wound-care equipment, and even tackled timed challenges that invovled putting on a shirt and socks using allied health aids designed to support patients following surgery.

The experience gave students a valuable insight into the many different roles that contribute to our healthcare system and the diverse career pathways available within the sector in our region. A big thank you to the team at NCN Health for welcoming our students and generously sharing their time, knowledge and expertise.
