Choir Concert
Stars on Stage – Celebrating Our Students
Our students recently had the wonderful opportunity to perform in the Primary Schools Festival of Music: Stars on Stage at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Alongside more than 1,300 Year 5 and 6 students from across South Australia, a number of our year 5 and 6 students proudly took to the stage, showcasing their enthusiasm, confidence and musical talents. We were also delighted to see Mia represent our school as a soloist, demonstrating exceptional dedication and skill.
The Primary Schools Festival of Music is a treasured South Australian tradition that brings students together through artistic excellence, cultural diversity and social inclusion. Experiences like these not only create lasting memories but also help students develop confidence, teamwork and resilience. Singing and music participation have also been shown to support learning by strengthening concentration, memory, listening skills and creativity.
This year's concert was a truly unforgettable experience. Audiences were thrilled by energetic guest performances, outstanding musicianship from the orchestra and troupe, and a vibrant repertoire spanning a range of musical genres.
A special thank you to our teachers and support staff who went above and beyond to make this opportunity possible. Their dedication, encouragement and countless hours of preparation helped our students shine on stage.
We are incredibly proud of all our performers and grateful to be part of such a spectacular celebration of music, learning and public education. 🌟🎶
Community minded
We have come to the end of our Community Minded focus, and over the past two weeks we have seen some amazing examples of this in action across our school.
One highlight was our whole-school Name Challenge, where we tested how well we knew everyone’s names. We have also been making a strong effort to greet people by name, make eye contact, and ask a follow-up question to show that we are truly listening.
There have also been wonderful examples of students connecting with our wider community. Some students took part in Imagine Uraidla Pitch to Win, while others visited Summerhill Aged Care to share their singing.
Below are some student recounts from these experiences.
This week we went to Summerhill Aged Care with Emma's class to sing some of our songs. This included Brumby Jack and Waltzing Matilda. We did this to be Community Minded. The older people from Summerhill sang along to Waltzing Matilda. After singing, we introduced ourselves to the older people and told them about ourselves. Some of them told us things about themselves.

This week Emma's class and mine went to Summerhill. We went there to be Community Minded. We did this by singing some of our class songs, including Blowin' in the Wind and On the Road Again. We also sang Waltzing Matilda and nearly all of the older people in the audience joined in with us. After our singing, we went to the older people to tell them about ourselves.

As part of our school wide theme this term on Community Minded, the year 2/3/4 students ventured up to Summerhill Aged Care to entertain the residents with a few songs. The two clips attached allow you to see our performance. It was especially nice to see many residents singing along to Waltzing Matilda.

Last Thursday, students worked with local artist Alice Dolling to help create a student-inspired mural that will be displayed in the outdoor area next to Emma and Suzie’s classroom.
During these sessions, students shared their ideas and created artwork that Alice will use to develop a vibrant piece designed to brighten the space. It was fantastic to see classes working together so creatively and collaboratively.

Camp
We welcome back our Year 6 students from their week long camp to the Flinders Ranges. It sounds like they all had a terrific time away and they look forward to sharing some of their highlights in the next newsletter. Thank you to Margie, Corinne, Chris, Seb and Megan for giving up their time to go away with our students.
SACA Cricket Clinics
On the last day of term students in Reception to Year Three participated in cricket clinics run by SACA. Even though we occasionally got some wet weather students got a chance to practice a range of skills throughout the clinic and got some information about joining one of our local cricket clubs. Students were given a flyer if they are interested in pursuing cricket outside of school.
We hope you all have a wonderful holiday break and get to spend some quality time together. We look forward to seeing everyone back for a fun filled Term 4.
