Year 9s Continue Powerful Contributions to Community

It’s been another meaningful and rewarding fortnight of volunteering for the Year 9s in our flagship C.L.C (Community Leadership Challenge) program.

We’ve been flooded with messages of glowing praise from people around the Rural City of Wangaratta each week, and the looks on the faces of our kids when they return to school each Wednesday afternoon to share in our “Celebration Circle”, are priceless.

Just some of the comments coming in have included:

"You're not having them back" - Oxley Primary School in regards to Jedda Driscoll and Lily Byrne.

"They are ace! We are enjoying having them" - Whitfield Community Childcare Centre regarding Isabelle Christison, Milly O'Kane, Casey Sheppard and Emily Swinburne.

"These boys are nailing this gig. An absolute delight to have the boys" - WDSS (Specialist School) in regards to Bode Crawford, Harrison Kelly, Ryan Winter and Riley White.

"The girls have been amazing. We don't even need to tell them what to do - they just do it" - Anglicare Loaves and Fishes in regard to Keira Cox, Claire Shilcock and Cheyenne Stow.

"The gardens look so good. Massive job!" Our grounds always seem to look their best in Terms 2 and 4 when C.L.C are here" - Wangaratta West Primary School in regards to the "Ground Crew" of Coen Coppinger, Charlie Leslie, Tane Massey-Chase, Cas Turk and Archer Wilson.

"The girls have been great, we are loving having them here on Wednesdays! Right from the very first visit, they have been a pleasure to have in the room. They have shown initiative, getting straight in to introduce themselves to my students, sitting down with them to chat and get to know them, and they have been more than willing to do anything that has been asked of them during their sessions here (listening to junior students read, assisting them with activities, helping out in the library etc.) - Appin Park Primary School in regards to Lucy Armstrong, Erin Collins, Lillian Hooper and Angela Keenan.

At Wangaratta West PS, at least 4 of our kids have been able to catch up with their younger siblings, with hugs in the yard whenever they cross paths- pics attached of Kayden Vozlic, Cooper Lack and Lillian Wilson doing so will tug on the heart-strings of any parent.

Lizzie McNair and Emma Williams have been raising money for a family from Fiji who are in need. A former W.H.S student living in Fiji put them in tcuch with the family. The girls have done a sterling job "Cold Calling" businesses and have garnered donations for a big raffle.

Another highlight has been Rosie Bulmer who has become a regular on the piano, entertaining an audience of Aged Care residents at Iloura with classical music pieces.

Thank you to our kids for your considerable efforts and time in “giving back” to your community, and as always to our tremendous organisations hosting our students each Wednesday -
