Sport: JUNIOR TENNIS

19 of our best Year 7 and 8s performed well at the Upper Hume Tennis carnival last Friday 25th October, at Wangaratta's picturesque Merriwa Park Lawn Tennis Club.

All 4 of our teams finished in an admirable 3rd place, on a day where Wodonga teams were champions in all 4 competitions.

Our Year 7 Girls (Amelia Booth, Paige-Lee Dummett, Willow Norris and Mia Simpson) clinched a big victory against crosstown rivals Galen Catholic College, while the Year 7 Boys (Noah Anderson, Bailey Bridgfoot, Henry Lloyd, Mason Skermer, Teo Valle, Jack Vincent and Logan Wilson) drew with Galen (2-2).

In the Year 8 category, our Girls (Kaity Ford, Inanay Gilson, Ruby O'Kane and Taylah Wyatt) had a dominant win over Victory Lutheran College Wodonga (3 sets to 1), and our Boys (Lachlan Downing, Andrew Fraser, Clarence Lampa and Hugh Spring) defeated the usual Powerhouse Catholic College Wodonga (also 3-1).

Thanks to all players for representing the school in a terrific manner again. There were many days of Tryouts, with both inside and outside at Lunchtimes. Thanks to the many that assisted on the day as Ball Boys, Ball Girls, scorers and photographers (the action shots seen below are all student-snapped).

A great experience overall - a number of our players had never hit a Tennis ball on grass courts before.

Big thank you to coach Sheri Parkhouse, and Sandy "Newmo" Newman for convening the day.

We look forward to reporting on the 36 students across 9 teams who are competing in Victoria's first ever school championships in the sport of Ten Pin Bowling this Friday.
