Heany Park's Got Talent
Our HPPS' Got Talent Show was a fantastic celebration of our students' creativity, confidence, and talent. We were treated to an amazing variety of performances, with students proudly taking to the stage and entertaining our school community.
Congratulations to our placegetters: Juniors – 1st Wesley, 2nd Freyja, Sienna, Ted and Sophie, and 3rd Sierra; Middles – 1st Harper, 2nd Skye, and 3rd Logan and Estelle; Seniors – 1st Olivia, 2nd Lucas, and 3rd Nalisha.
A big thank you to our Performing Arts Captains and Mr U and Miss Potter, for their leadership and support in making the event such a success. A special thank you also to Andrea Cobern, Director of ASV Academy, for generously providing vouchers for our students.
Congratulations to everyone who participated and helped make HPPS Got Talent such a fun and memorable event!
Junior School Market
As part of their How We Organise Ourselves Unit of Inquiry, our Junior School students planned and hosted a very successful Market Day. Students developed their understanding of how goods, services and money work within a community while building skills in collaboration, decision-making and organisation.
The whole school and many parents visited the market, creating a wonderful sense of excitement and community. Importantly, the students had a voice in deciding where the money raised would go, choosing to donate the proceeds to the Royal Children’s Hospital. A fantastic example of authentic learning, student agency and taking action to make a positive difference. Students raised approximately $ 2,200.00 for the Royal Children's Hospital.
School Disco
Our Retro 80s & 90s School Disco was a fantastic evening filled with music, dancing and plenty of fun! Students embraced the retro theme, enjoying classic tunes, showing off their best dance moves and spending time with friends. The photo booth was a huge hit, capturing lots of smiles and memorable moments from the night. A big thank you to our Events Committee, staff and parent volunteers who helped make the disco such an enjoyable and successful event for our students.
Book Bonanza
This term, the SRC has launched the 2026 Heany Park PS Book Bonanza Reading Challenge, encouraging all students and teachers to develop their love of reading over a seven-week period. Students from Foundation to Year 6 have been given age-appropriate reading challenges and recording sheets to track the books they read throughout the challenge (Monday 20th July to Monday 7th September). Teachers are also participating by reading five novels this year!
Students who complete the challenge and return their signed recording sheet by the closing date will receive a certificate and bookmark, and all successful participants will also go into the draw to win one of three major prizes (x3 $30 Book Club vouchers).
Book Week in the Library
To celebrate Book Week, our Literacy Captains, Charlotte and Mireille, organised an activity based on the shortlisted book, Derek. Derek is about a curious fish who has lots of questions about the world.
Charlotte and Mireille read the book to Tuesday’s Library Lunch Club participants. Afterwards, the children wrote a question they had about the world on a fish, then decorated it. This bright and colourful display is in our library for all to enjoy.

Parent / Carer Opinion Survey
Our school is participating in the Department of Education’s annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey. All families are invited to provide feedback about school climate, student behaviour and engagement.
Your feedback is valuable and will help us identify areas for improvement and guide future school planning and priorities.
The survey is online, takes approximately 20 minutes, and is available in English and 10 other languages. Participation is optional, but we strongly encourage families to have their say.
The survey closes Friday 18 September 2026.
Sun Hats Are Back! ☀️
With the first day of spring here, it’s time to get our sun hats organised and ready for next week. Please take some time to find, name and pack your child’s school hat, ready for the start of our No Hat, No Play period.
From next week, No Hat, No Play will be implemented; students without a hat will be required to remain in designated shaded areas during break times.

Excursion and Incursion: Friendly Reminder
Friendly Reminder: All events must be consented to and paid for by the advertised closing date.
When we receive permissions and payments after the cut-off date, planning becomes more difficult. This includes organising parent helpers to meet supervision ratios, finalising sporting teams, and confirming participant numbers with venues. It can also be challenging on the day of the event when we are unsure whether a student is attending.
To support families, we publish all school events on Compass with at least two weeks' notice, providing plenty of time to complete consent and payment requirements.
We kindly ask parents and carers to complete consent and payment by the due date. This helps us plan effectively and avoids disappointment if students are unable to attend due to outstanding permissions or payments.

Curriculum Day 10 September: Reminder
We would like to advise families that our next Curriculum Day for the year will be held on Thursday 10 September. This will be a student-free day.
OSHC will be available for families who require care for their child/ren on this day. The service will provide further information about bookings.
