TERM THREE -Edition 28th August 2026

CBCA Book Week – Thankyou so much to all staff and students who have participated and supported CBCA book Week 2026!  This is the most exciting week for school libraries in the entire year so to see how much GSSC has joined in our activities has been wonderful.

Our ‘Dress up Day’ was a huge success, with so many hand made and creative outfits around the school – choosing winners was very difficult as so many people deserved a prize!  Our selected winners were finally decided as… Micah Cherry as - Columbina Genshin Impact, Rehema Sarah as Mr Bobinsky from Coraline, and Cole Madden - Mr Grumpy from the Mr Men Books. With runners up Vincent Vesty – Knight of the Hollow Star from Hollow Knight, Peyton Seale – as the Blue Crayon – The Day the Crayons Quit, and Loturina Tuaopepe, Amber Turvey, Kate Enero as the 3 Rio Birds.

Next newlstter we will have photos of out costume winners, and will announce the winners of the ‘Acrostic Poem’ and ‘Design Your Own Book Cover’ competitions.  We will also share our own ‘Symphony of Stories’ that we have created using your submissions 😊

Lunchtime Libraries Games – All of our libraries are currently tidying up and taking suggestions for new or replacement items in our games cupboards, please tell us what you would like! Uno is an old time favourite, but have you tried the variations like Uno no Mercy?

Melissa Recommends - CBCA Shortlisted Titles!  While the entire short list is full of excellent reads, I particularly recommend the following…
