Spring Garden
As the weather warms up, we are enjoying more opportunities to spend time outdoors and care for our garden. This week, we turned the soil in our garden beds in preparation for planting. While digging, we discovered some worms, which inspired children to watch closely and observe how they moved. After our investigation, we gently returned the worms to their habitat.
The children then carefully separated carrot and corn seedlings ready for planting. They took their time to position each seedling with equal spaces between them, developing an understanding of how plants need room to grow. Once the planting was complete, the children enthusiastically watered the garden.
This hands-on experience nurtured teamwork, responsibility and care for living things, while developing the children’s appreciation and understanding of how plants grow and how we can help care for our environment.
