🌱 National Science Week – 15 to 23 August

National Science Week is Australia's annual celebration of science, and this year's theme is "Seeds – Small Seeds, Big Ideas!"

To celebrate, we've shared an optional Science Week Project with students. Families are invited to choose an activity that sparks their curiosity—whether it's investigating a seed, growing a plant, creating a mini terrarium or making a piece of seed-inspired art.

The project is completely optional and is a wonderful opportunity to explore science together at home. We encourage families to get outdoors, ask questions, make observations and discover just how fascinating seeds can be.

We hope many of our students enjoy taking part and celebrating the wonder of science this National Science Week! 🌱

Book Week 2026 

This year Willy Primary will celebrate Book Week during Week 6 (Monday 17th August – Friday 21st August).  We have lots of exciting activities planned.  Please see below for the details of each event

Drawing Workshop - Wednesday 19th & Thursday 20th August

Local author/illustrator, Sarah Allen, will lead the students through a drawing workshop, referencing her work. Sarah’s books always centre around nature. Some of her titles include: Busy Beaks, Jumping Joeys and Ingenious Insects. See Compass for consent and payment.

Book Week Parade - Friday 21st August

Our Willy Kids will have a chance to share some of their favourite literary characters at our annual Book Week parade. The parade will begin at 9:15am on the basketball court. It will be a wonderful opportunity for all Willy Kids to showcase their fabulous costumes. We can’t wait to see the creative costumes worn by our students and teachers.

Lamont Book Fair - Tuesday 18th August to Thursday 20th August

The Book Fair will be open for business from Tuesday 18th August - Thursday 20th August.  Each day it will be open between 8:30am - 9:00am, and 3:30pm - 4:15pm.  There will be no other sale times during the day.  Payments can be made via cash, credit/debit card, or via the Lamont online portal.
