YEAR 9 OUTDOOR EDUCATION

Year 9 Outdoor Ed

This week the yr 9 OE class put their navigation skills to the test, completing an orienteering course around campus. It’s all about being fastest to accurately find their way from one point to the next, with just a map and compass to guide them.

Last week, after a couple of lessons learning bike skills in class, the year 9 OE class headed off campus to Mirboo North, to ride the Grand Ridge Trail. They dodged the rain and it was clear skies for their 20km ride. The trail took them towards Boolara, stopping at historic sites along the way, including ‘the big tree’ in Darlimurla, a remnant grey gum, showing students what the forest was once like. It was a great day, with students having the opportunity to put some of their new trail and MTB skills to the test.
