What's happening in classrooms?

Junior School News

Last week we learned about letter P and this week we have learned about letter I. We used playdough and our whiteboards and we did the letters on them. That's what we learned this week. We  have been learning about Keys to Communication. Number 1 is we do eye contact, we say there name and do a tap. We use a talking voice. I like wellbeing. I like where we learned the keys to communication. It's fun because sometimes Mrs Smith uses a funny voice.

Grade 1/2/3

We had a wonderful whole class paper plane competition last week. The kids really enjoyed making their paper planes, and then measuring how far their planes could fly. Miss Fullard ran the competition sessions and Freddie Gunning won the competition with a secret design which he has been refining for quite some time...or so he tells me...

In literacy we are reading 'The Gentle Genius of Trees'. This fantastic book describes how tree biology functions, and also how tree groups and families support each other in wild and amazing ways. So far, the book has been very popular!

Grade 4/5/6 Summer Sports carnival

Volleyball

We are so proud of our little volleyball team who played at Romsey Recreation Centre Today. All of the team tried their very best and were so supportive and encouraging of each other. The team played six games and were absolutely exhausted by the end of the day, but they all walked away pleased with their efforts and said that they "They had so much fun!".

Cricket

Today at Summer Sports we had nine cricket players, ranging from year 4 to year 6. There were some excellent cricket skills on display and great teamwork across the whole Newham team. The more experienced players demonstrated kindness and the school value of unity, by supporting and encouraging the less experienced players.  Well done Ryder, Audrey, Jackson, Archer, Will, Rubi, Chloe, Hudson and Jack!
