Performing Arts

Maria Chadwick

At Assembly last Monday, Performing Arts Captains Giselle and Emma welcomed Midge and George, members of our parent band called ‘The Portals’. Formerly ‘The Last Port’, they’ve participated in an exciting community event - Parents Battle of the Bands - with great success in recent times. Happily, their reason for visiting Assembly was to present PMPS with a cheque for $2061.

Set up as a fundraiser for local schools, Parents Battle of the Bands invites parents within local schools to form bands which perform live to audiences from their school communities. Funds raised through these events are donated back to the schools that support it, for use specifically in the Performing Arts. So far, we’ve used this money to pay for and subsidise live music performances at school, and to purchase new Choir Uniforms that will arrive next term.
