SCHOOL COUNCIL

School Council Update May meeting:-
We recently met with Bellarine (Noones) Uniforms in regard to an extension of contract for the next 3 years. We have been happy with this new company; however, felt it was important to raise a couple of concerns that have arisen over time. One of these being the length and width of the tees. They took this feedback on board, and are going to make changes to the shape, testing this with a number of students prior to stocking for later this year.
We requested that they make greater effort to ensure there is stock in store for families when attending in person. In addition to this they will have an increase in satchels in store, rather than families having to order. There were a couple of other agenda items in regard to embroidery and automated text messages, that we addressed and look forward to continuing with them over the next 3 years.
Line marking was meant to take place last weekend but due to the weather conditions has had to be postponed. This is unfortunate; however, we are wanting to ensure optimal conditions for the installation of this project.
Along with this, CCTV will be installed in the July school holidays.
Also on the agenda were concerns relating to parent interactions, parking and pedestrian movement on Huntingdon and Fairview. The City of Greater Geelong has allocated a member of the traffic team to monitor traffic movement and parking on Farview and Huntingdon in the coming weeks.
Discussion took place regarding the extremely low percentage of families contributing to the school fees and the impact this is having on resourcing within classrooms. We are needing to review options for 2027 in order to increase this dramatically and may result in parents having to purchase book packs and collecting from the office prior to the school year. Another option raised was potential collection of these funds in the November/ December of the previous school year.
