PRINCIPAL UPDATE

As mentioned last week, we have noticed students are back to bringing their own sporting equipment to school each day. Students are not to bring their own equipment to school and are to borrow equipment from House Captains each recess and lunchtime. We have asked the PE team and House Captains to order new soccer balls, basketballs, and footballs to ensure that there is enough equipment for all students to access at break times. There are multiple reasons for students not bringing their own sporting equipment to school, one being that they get lost or go missing, injuries occur due to the hardness of soccer balls, and fair play. One of the biggest issues we experience is exclusion to participate or rule creating by the owner of the equipment. This does not lead to social cohesion and causes challenges amongst peers, and then this follows into classrooms following break times. Not bringing equipment to school is not a new initiative, however something we need to remind our school community of.
Please also note that there is no trading to take place under any circumstances if students are bringing footy cards or toys to school. If students do trade, we will need to review this and unfortunately make a call to ban all cards and toys at school. Teachers will be having conversations with students this week about the above and ask you to please do this at home also.
Bag toys and Labubus are dominating bags at this current time and overtaking bag bays etc. Can we respectfully ask that conversations take place at home about reducing the number of attachments on bags and potentially rotating through favourites over a term etc. rather than adding to them. We appreciate this in advance and note that Grade 1/2 team have already discussed this with their classes.
Thanks so much for your continued support.
Cross Country
Congratulations to Molly, Connor, Sam, Charlotte and Gracie who participated in the divisional Cross Country in Keilor yesterday. This was a great achievement, and we are very proud of the efforts of all competitors. We're very excited to see Molly make it through to the State Championships.
AFL 9s Football Divisions
Congratulations to the students who participated in the Divisional AFL competition yesterday. It was a really successful day making it straight through to the Grand Final, unfortunately going down by 2 goals at the final siren.
Thank you to Ari and Matt Edwards for coaching along with Logan and Mr C.
Thank you also to the large crowd of supporters cheering the team on.
Clay Artists
Last Wednesday staff got their creative flare on and undertook a clay class with art teacher Deb Fisher. This was a lovely afternoon whereby we had an opportunity to create a masterpiece that will be fired in the coming weeks and ready for painting. Whilst some of us experienced some challenges and had to remake our design a couple of times, others flourished, and best on ground went to Logan and Claire.
We look forward to sharing some completed photos once fired and painted.
Thanks Deb for arranging this afternoon along with the staff wellbeing team.
Kind regards,
Meg
