Notification of Emergency Management Drill – OFF SITE EVACUATION
Dear parents and carers,
Each year our OH&S Team review our school’s Emergency Management Plan and procedures.
An important part of our Emergency Management Plan and OH&S Safety at Bimbadeen Heights PS is the implementation of regular Emergency Management drills to ensure all members of our community are well prepared to respond in the very rare instance that an emergency occurs at our school.
This is to let you know that a Emergency Drill – Offsite Evacuation to Mooroolbark College will take place on Wednesday 19 November. Classroom teachers will explicitly teach our students why we have Emergency Drills, what the process is and practise walking to Mooroolbark College school oval. Each drill is accompanied by a scenario, that is always tailored to support our students and staff to practice our procedures in a way that does not frighten or scare the students.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME (APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS – FROM 10AM)
Staff and students will be alerted to the drill via an announcement over our public address system. This will be followed by the school bell. Staff will calmly direct and support students to follow the procedures we have in place.
At the conclusion of all drills, our teachers debrief with our students to reinforce the ‘practice’ nature of the drill, identify what we did well and what we could do to improve our processes and procedures.
Our Emergency Management Plan includes information about how our school prepares for and responds to a range of emergency situations.
Our OH&S Committee meet each term to review our Emergency Management procedures. If you have any suggestions or concerns about our Emergency Management Plan or procedures, please contact Sabrina George, Marty Gill or Adele Gregson on 9726 9989.
Regards,
OH&S Committee and Adele Gregson
New chairs for the students!
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news that has students across the school buzzing with joy, every classroom has just received brand new chairs!
The energy and enthusiasm has been contagious as students walked into their rooms to find sleek and super comfy seating waiting for them. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! Students have shared how much they love the colour, especially because it perfectly matches the new tables we received earlier this year! The coordinated look has given classrooms a fresh, modern feel that everyone is loving. Plus, the chairs are just the right amount of bouncy, making them extra comfortable for long learning sessions.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. In the spirit of community and sustainability, our school will be donating the old chairs to another school in need. We’re proud to support fellow learners and ensure that nothing goes to waste.
Here’s to brighter, comfier classrooms and the joy of giving back!
