Adam Wallace’s ‘Hatman’ Book Launch – Thursday 20 November

We’re getting excited!! Adam Wallace’s Hatman book launch will be held on Thursday 20 November for all students in Years 3 to 6. There is no charge for this event, however parent/carer permission is required for students to attend. Permission was sent home via a Sentral notification last week.

As previously mentioned, families have the opportunity to purchase signed copies of Hatman — which won’t be available in bookstores, as Adam is an independent publisher. Orders can be placed online via www.hatman.com.au/novlaunch, and books will be delivered directly to the school on the day of Adam’s visit. Plus, with each order placed, Adam will include one of his other books absolutely FREE!

To celebrate this exciting occasion, we’re also holding a Hat Day! Students are encouraged to wear a hat that’s special or meaningful to them — it could be a favourite hat, one that shows off their personality, a wacky creation, or simply their trusty school hat!

Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge

We’re delighted to congratulate all the students who successfully completed this year’s Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge! 🎉

Certificates arrived earlier this week and have now been distributed by classroom teachers with formal acknowledgement to take place at this week’s assembly.

Well done to our amazing readers for their dedication and enthusiasm — we hope you’ll take up the challenge again next year!

Scholastic Book Club

Issue 7 orders arrived late last week and have now been distributed. As always, if any items received are not up to expectation in terms of quality or condition, please let us know so we can have the issue resolved.

The final Scholastic Book Club brochure for the year (Issue 8) was handed out to students this week. Orders close on Thursday, 27 November.

Many families who placed orders in the last issue will have received a $5 promo code to use on this issue.

The Gift Functionality option is also enabled for Issue 8 — allowing parents to have their orders held at school for discreet collection, rather than being sent home with their child. Families who select this option will be notified once their orders arrive and can arrange a convenient pickup time from the office.

Book Fair

With the busyness of Book Week and all the activities that come with it, this year we have decided to hold our Book Fair towards the end of the year. This is a time when many families begin thinking about Christmas presents for their children and relatives — and for many, a book makes the perfect gift!

Once again, Lamont Books will be supplying our Book Fair. Lamont is an independent, family-owned business that stocks a wonderful range of titles — from unique books often found only in quality bookstores to many of the popular favourites you’d see in department stores.

The Book Fair will arrive on Friday, 28th November and will be open for business before and after school throughout the week commencing Monday, 1st December. The Fair will close after school on Friday, 5th December.

All students will visit the Book Fair in their library session during the week and complete a ‘Wish List’, which they will bring home in case there’s anything they’d like to purchase. We remind students that a ‘wish’ is just that — there’s no obligation for parents or carers to buy any of the items listed.

As this is also the week of our Christmas Concert, the Fair will be open during that evening as well.

Till next time, happy reading everyone!
